Seriously, people forget how utterly fucking dumb the HBO Max branding and rollout was. I'm not here for people being fired, but when you're THAT scattershot as a company, this is the result. 

Zaslav played a big role in turning the Discovery Channel and TLC from educational channels into trashy networks that air mostly cheap exploitative shows, pseudoscience BS, and nutjobs peddling conspiracies about aliens and doomsday prophecies. So I would question his definition of “quality.”

It’s important to remember this entire thing is basically AT&T’s fault for screwing up Warner. So, fuck you AT&T.

Look, I know we give the A.V. Club a lot of shit these days, so I figured a bit of praise is in order. This is an amazing phrase and bonus points for using my favorite word:

While I agree that HBO existing in the same universe as HBO Max was needlessly confusing, stripping scripted content from HBO Max and turning it into just another reality TV channel would just be stupid. That would drag down the HBO brand while also stepping on Discovery’s toes as the channel of choice for customers…

Matt Berry’s line reading of “we’re doing a piece to camer-ah” has deservedly received most of the praise already, but I loved this from Nandor. Sort of trying to commit to the lie, but with such little enthusiasm or conviction. 

Why would any director with options choose to work with WB Discovery again after this? Maybe they would for a big payday but is a studio that is permenantly shelving nearly complete work for a tax writeoff really going to offer that?

i posted this on the other one, but it rules that the SEC is so lax you can just do the producers for real now. more financial incentive to not release a movie than to release it, great for filmmakers and movie fans alike.

Thank you. It’s super annoying reading about a TV show or movie and I’ll spend 10 minutes looking at the review to see where the damn thing is airing before I just wind up googling it.

As a manager, if I had feedback for a new employee I would pull that employee aside and deliver that message one on one. I would then give that employee a reasonable amount of time to improve, provide warnings if he/she did not (always on a one on one basis) and then start an official performance improvement program…

Giving notes like you describe and humiliating a child by saying their notes are so voluminous it would take all day to read them in front of the entire cast and crew are two different things.
