“Anyway, the best television show produced in the post-Breaking Bad era is a South Korean strategy game-show called The Genius, with incredibly original editing and an amazing, definitely unlicensed soundtrack”

Agree with all of these. Of note re: Uber/Lyft, it’s a flat rate to go between two locations on the Strip. Also, each hotel has a designated pickup spot that’s usually on a side entrance, away from the cabs. Ask a concierge or valet where it is, it’s much easier than grabbing a taxi.
I feel you Cavey. I was Navy enlisted, but served in joint areas, mostly Army bases. In boot camp, had a kid make it his mission to “save” me and an atheist recruit. As an E-3, had an Army SSG condemn me to “sin hellfire and brimstone” because I was the only Jewish person in class. Later, had an AF TSgt tell me “You…
As much as I would be down for that, that’s how not-down my gf would be. She has the eating habits of an 11-year old, so most “ethnic places” are sadly out, and she’ll refuse to eat before she goes to somewhere where she’d have to try something new.
RE: wheel spinning, my girlfriend is entirely incapable of choosing where to go to dinner, and great at shooting down any place I suggest (regardless of if I actually want to go there or not). We’ve found a middle ground with me choosing 3 places and her picking one, but I’ve threatened to build a wheel of local…
Even more odd, reports were that he tried to use a Dominican passport.
I feel your pain. My episode featured sonnets and art technique, and World Series MVPs came up the next episode, as I watched from the audience. Retroactive good luck!
My girlfriend is training with FEMA right now as a volunteer, they have deployed and are deploying a large number of people to everywhere that’s been affected, including PR and USVI. Apparently they’re holding a decent number of volunteers until Maria hits.
As a curler, I feel your pain, but in reverse.
As a curler and a self-loathing Orioles fan, thanks for this. A reminder that if any readers have an interest in the game (or plan to get one as the Olympics approach), seek out your local club and try a learn-to-curl. It’s really fun to play with a surprisingly level of difficulty.
A firend and I actually came up with a list of city color schemes a few weeks ago, because we’re nerds like that. It got really tough, especially for Buffalo and Cincinnati, but it ended all right. And by “all right,” I mean DC got to keep red/white/blue.
Wonderful! It was tough to play on Wii, but I’ve been replaying de Blob 2 over the past few weeks. The color idea is really clever, the soundtrack is one of my favorites to relax to, and Comrade Black and the Inkies are ridiculously fun villains.
The Netherlands has been doing The Mole every year for a good long while. They use celebrities, but it’s really well done. You can find English-subtitled versions on either Youtube or Dailymotion. The 2017 version took place in Oregon, and wraps up in a few weeks. Check them out!
Thanks for giving The Genius some love. I think it would work well in the US as a non-celebrity show, but with contestants curated for various “genius” traits - a trustworthy professor, a charming used-car salesman, a strategic pro gamer (always thought LemonNation from LoL would be great at this). If you liked this,…
I actually applied for The Wall a few months ago with a buddy. We never stood a chance because a) we didn’t have a massive sob story, and b) we actually know a bit of trivia. Casting was much more like Deal or No Deal - Lebron wants community leaders, people who give back, cancer survivors, etc. Which is cool, and…
I just finished curling for about 5 hours., and my knee is all hurt to hell. Believe me, it’s a lot tougher than it looks.
Wow, you’re a braver person than me. I mean, lemon bar. Damn.
They’re British measurements. 1 stone (st) is 14 pounds, so 15st2 is 212lbs, and 13st2 is 184 lbs. Hope this helps!
Was it about a cigar? The game show community (yes, it’s a thing) knows about that guy - he does that to every female contestant, without fail, and has been known to cyberstalk. He’s also been banned from various message boards for repeated harassment.
