As a fellow linguistics person I concur. This is the shit I harp on when talking about gender-neutral language. Fuck, fellow internet linguists and I were just talking about race, gender, and language this week.
Well, there’s also the issue of not having a Humpty-Dumpty theory of meaning, where words change meaning because of intension. It’s hard to know where to draw the line between prescriptivism and having a functional theory of linguistic meaning sometimes.
I had a pretty similar experience when I was applying. 4.7 GPA (out of 4), like 6 APs, plus college classes, plus skipping a year in HS. 97th percentile SAT/ACT scores too (don’t remember the exact number rn). Marching band throughout high school plus arranging for the band, and other things.
Airfoil also does this in addition to acting as a sort of audio server for all your wireless audio devices. Not free though, but worth it in my opinion
