I loved the first one, it actually got me into the series; the second one was a travesty though. I wish they’d bring the writers/directors from the first one back for a better sequel.

On the one hand, this makes me sad. On the other hand...who’s up for a Silent Hill moviethon? Does anyone besides me like what they did with the first movie (if you give it enough liberty with the material you see in the movie)? And what of the second one?

I see this purely in consulting terms (I’m a consultant). Microsoft here was the client, who outsourced their project to a consultant team (Darkside). They agreed on terms, budget, etc. and work started.

The problem with your argument is that the people making it always seem to think that a man "Shirtless" = "Sexualized." There are numerous factors that need to be considered: the purpose of the outfit, the way the subject is being presented to the viewer, their pose, the camera angles, any musical cues.

I think it's proven its point perfectly. You think a handful of male character with bare chests offsets the massive body of work that puts women in silly revealing outfits and impossible, "presenting" positions. It doesn't.

Imprisoning them would cost the taxpayer even more money, just fine them for the cost of the operation, which probably gets into the 10s of thousands of dollars.
