Well there are two problems with this method:

Voice commands are idiotic. Of course they work in Star Treck, because "computer, engage" is way more effective in a show than showing some guy swiping, swiftkeying or pinch-to-zooming on a glass... or you know... just use a keyboard or mouse.

I think technology reached a point where 99.9% of what a normal person NEEDS is already solved by existing products. We don't NEED any new stuff... So they have to make stuff that we don't need but we might WANT. What do we want ? They probably have no ideea, so they're just shooting out ideas and see what catches on.
