OTOH anyone can track where you went by following the oil drip from the transfer case.

My 1997 K2500 is not spying on me.

Galling that Musk is somehow bragging about how the dumpster “car” wasn’t completely destroyed despite the explosion when they’re prone to spontaneous combustion even unintentionally and everyone initially naturally assumed it blew up on its own because that’s what they do.

I just love all the posts pointing out that Musk built a truck where it took two hours to decide if it exploding was because of a bomb or just because it just does that occasionally.

Working class voters when they realize the billionaires they voted for are pursuing policies that benefit billionaires over the working class.

Don’t worry, Trump will change his mind on this, when he discovers it’s not the popular take from his adoring fans. Then Musk will offer him a half-billion to reconsider, and so he’ll flip again (and cash that check). Remember — he used to be “TIKTOK is the DEVIL! BAN IT!” and now suddenly he loves it and wants to

I bet you that its UTV OEMs lobbying to have em shut down more than anything else.

“Also, bear in mind that a car going 5 mph under the speed limit is more likely to cause a crash than a car going 5 mph over.”

I spy some suspects:

Why do they care so much? and no it’s not safety, because if it was, ban Motorcycles. But they won’t, so there has to be some money trail involved, or maybe they really are just a bunch of retired Karens. And what exactly is a “Non Traditional Vehicle”? Kei cars seems to fit this bill in the law:

I would much rather drive one of these adorable little guys than the massive monster trucks that have far less actual utility that are currently clogging up US roadways.

This organization tried to pull this stunt in MA, as noted. But MA citizens pushed back and Kei’s are now allowed in MA.

I can’t help but think there’s an ulterior motive here, though I have yet to find a direct link to a big corporate sponsor who would benefit from no Kei cars being on the road. Why not go after motorcycles, if this is all about safety? Surely there’s no debate that a Kei car is far safer than a motorcycle.

The 25 year rule doesn’t exist for safety or emissions, it’s because importing “grey market” cars from Europe was so lucrative a business in the 70s and 80s that the dealership lobby paid off Washington to make it illegal.

Import age rules for private citizens are dumb. Let people bring in whatever deathtrap they want so long it won’t kill anyone else and doesn’t roll coal. An S4 wagon isn’t going to hurt anyone.

We should have pretty strict size restrictions on how big civilian vehicles can be. Trucks these days can’t even fit to established parking spaces. They block other vehicles’ sight lines on the road, they are unable to see pedestrians or other obstacles and hazards over their massive hoods, and their overcompensating

You can charge more for bigger cars that probably don't cost that much more to build than a sedan. I'm sure the profit margins for minicars is very slim. You'd have to sell 10 mini cars to make the same profit with one fully load Texas edition f150 platinum.

It’s probably also automakers lobbying to squash any changes to allow minicars because they want to keep charging more and more for their cartoonishly large vehicles, safety be damned.

If only there was a way to permanently silence that loudmouth fuckstain in charge of Tesla...
