I was just relieved that the ‘SA’ portion of ‘DVDASA’ didn’t stand for something more...thematically appropriate to the story.

Blue check marks meant that it was validated that yes, the person behind this account IS who they are claiming to be.
Twitter has legit fucked so many folks’ understanding of, like...name it.
I love both episodes, but some reason there’s a general opinion that Beard After Dark is a bad episode.
Director Lisa Cortes overdoes the stylistic flourishes
The AV Club’s parent company doesn’t pay freelancers well enough; otherwise, I’d love to do the job!
I don’t think you have to worry. Rebecca’s subtle dig at Roy that she’s going “somewhere that believes they deserve her” feels like her telling him he made a mistake. He may come around to that in the next few episodes.
I mean...this was one of the more satisfying episodes this year. I find the review to be a bit banal and nitpicky. They’re obviously building towards connecting all, or at least most of, these plotlines. And that’s good. They’re wrapping up the show in a feel good way that is exactly what we want from Ted Lasso.
I obviously enjoy the last two seasons of this show way more than the folks at AV Club. Nothing wrong with that, but it means I don’t usually agree with the reviews.
Your comment is a better review than the review. Thank you for providing some context and analysis that we (or at least I) would have missed otherwise.
I know it’s called Total Football, I’m sure if I was talking with my friends about it in my relatively rural area I would recognize it as Total Football. However, after this episode, when it’s shown in the episode it’s probably going to stick in my brain as the triangle offense. Thanks, Tex and Phil.
With the whiff of a filler set piece, this subplot had all of Richmond’s players remembering that the best way to spend a curfew-free night in Amsterdam is to not go see tulips, not eat Dutch food, not attend a private party, and definitely not bear witness to a sex show and instead to have a pillow fight(?).
This was definitely an episode that either one went along for the ride or fought it most of the way. I see Manuel is holding court in the latter. But I was all in. First breaking up the group so one had these mini-adventures was a blast. Roy & Jaimie, sure Roy learning to bike was an amusing part of it, but the…
Yet we still don’t know who voted to see tulips.
“I would like to see a tulip.”
“You mean tulip fields?”
“No no no, just one tulip. An entire field would be incredibly overwhelming.”
Giving very short shrift to Jamie here. He had a great role in his storyline - opening up to Roy and deepening the show’s most rewarding friendship, revealing hidden depths and intelligence again, all while still showing flashes of that charming bravado.

“When England sends us their TV personalities, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending James Corden. They’re sending Piers Morgan. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems to us. And some, I assume, are good people”
“The reality is some people can’t have nice things. Freaknik followed the same life cycle of an Atlanta Club, the people that made it fun and popular were eventually pushed out by the people who ended up destroying it.
I distinctly remember Freaknik stopping ambulances from getting to calls.
