This detail of walking on top of the snow was also present in the Jackson trilogy where Legolas walks on top of the snow whilst the rest of the party trudges through it. It’s a cool detail, and does somehow excuse some of the rest of the much maligned “video-game” physics in other more regrettable scenes.

The tension from having read the comic, really added to that scene in the episode though. But John Dee is a much better character on screen than on page. They really nailed the casting and writing here.
