I think The Expanse would have been better if it had had better production design, if we could easily tell who was who, and to which faction they belonged, and if they had cooler spaceships, but sure, it is/was a good show.

Did many people object to the ending that was used? I don’t recall. Bad person with knife and you have a gun, so shoot. Self defense, regardless of how two- or three-dimensional the person with the knife is/was. I don’t think people complain about horror movies with mass-murdering psychopaths and their violent ends.
