This is random, but it reminded me a lot of Don't Like You from the Lloyd Webber/Ben Elton soccer/NRA musical flop The Beautiful Game, which I realize is kinda obscure, but Garth Slater at least probably knows it as he was working with Lord Andy around the same time. (And the song is a male/female duet which, by the

Who's Frank? Am I just forgetting since it's been 10 months or something? I dunno—ending with episode 7 (especially since they announced it would be 8 episodes long as soon as the show was announced long before it aired) would feel very out of character to me.

I remember reading that! Andy must have been a permanent fixture at the Off-Broadway run a couple years later of Salonika (Maxwell playing opposite Jessica Tandy of all people—and completely naked through the first act—I think it was part of his attempt after his movie flops to get some respect—and he did get very

While I don't disagree—the thing is this was shot on several vast sound stages—it was not designed in proscenium sets so it would have been pretty difficult to just have a steady frame. I didn't love the camera work, though it was impressive for live, but I did like it more than for The Wiz

I think the stage Xanadu is perhaps too "queer" in tone for a network to pick up (and now someone will comment that they did The Wiz and Peter Pan…)

And has barely run anywhere—only very belatedly getting a recording when the creators funded the bill (which was smart to do, if they want the show to have ANY sort of life in regional productions or even amateur). It's not an awful show—had a good jail tap number I recall—but it doesn't work as well as it should

Honestly I was just happy it was kept—I don't miss most of the other songs cut from the movie (does anyone prefer Alone at the Drive In or whatever to Sandy) but using the song only as background music always bugged me.

They have said it won't be live. I suppose that could change? I'm sure you know, but in the Fall BBC aired a "live" version (but it was a film of the London revival).

It's truly a tragedy that the planned third film (yes! a trilogy!) never happened…

And I do genuinely like Grease 2 more than Grease (the movie). I'm not saying it's *better* and that may be nostalgia (it seemed to air on TV every afternoon when I was growing up whereas Grease never did) or my crush on Maxwell Caulfield, but… I also feel bad for Patricia Birch—she choreographed the

Yeah—I mean I grew up a musical theatre loving kid (I was pretty obsessed with Oliver! from age four or so and was fully into Sondheim by ten) and I was always surprised how beloved the Mary Martin version is—I didn't grow up with it (and I remember when it finally reaired on TV being pretty disappointed) so the

Yeah, it's a hard choice but certainly at the least I can't fault them for including movie songs. I remember seeing as a kid the over produced 1990s revival (that ROsie O'Donald was in, but I saw on tour) which reportedly they tried and couldn't get the movie songs for and how disappointed many were (oddly they even

Mario Lopez is not exactly loved in the theatre world so there's some irony there (he was "stunt cast" in the revival of A Chorus Line but had ridiculous demands—playing Zack who is rarely seen on stage and is largely just a voice he insisted the, to theatre fans, iconic Michael Bennett staging be changed so that he

Absolutely and even his asides calling Taylor that bitch or whatever seem to be about more than just the photos getting out.

Agreed. I did think they very briefly touched on that when Leslie said to Dan something like "What if it was your *daughter*?"

They sure sure do… I have a friend who does them like every week—I always feel bad for bailing but the one I did go to was just so awkward for me. (and no, none of the, umm slam poems, were particularly affecting or even clever)

And—random comment—I had no idea last week's episode was directed by Gregg Araki.

Kevin certainly seems to know more happened than just the photos (as did a couple of the other players)

Yes, that makes complete sense—I think we completely agree. And with Taylor he already has the dynamic that he's the outcast in the school, (apparently) has previously been picked on anyway, and Eric's one of the popular kids so in that way playing up wanting rough sex in texts etc feeds into that dynamic.

I think it easily could be read that way. I assumed they had met at least once before (especially since, after the event, Eric seemed to be wanting to meet someone sorta for comfort more than a hook up) but this was the first time he was showing off his car. I dunno, having had a few such *ahem* encounters I don't
