Thirty seven years ago today Karen Carpenter died of complications caused by anorexia, which apparently started after a critic said she was chubby. In a trade magazine. That hardly anybody but industry people reads.

I couldn’t watch AI until they got through to Vegas. I hated watching people who weren’t in on the joke be mocked. And this is not to say I don’t watch reality tv and that every show I watch people are angels. But AI was so mean spirited as you said.

Me! On my way home, I’ll periodically pick up a burrito at the Chipotle near Davis Square where I transfer from the T to my bus. Orphan remains my greatest moviegoing experience. It was just a so-so thriller, but at the big reveal a tween/early-teen girl sitting down the row from us stood up and shouted ESTHER GOT TITTIES at the top of her lungs. It was incredible and probably the hardest I’ve ever laughed in public.

I used to be embarassed to tell people that I am still a devoted watcher of The Challenge, but once I emerged from the shadows, I discovered there are many of us from all walks of life. This show is a true gift.
