The hokey style of 1950s educational films makes them richly mockable today. But the real kicker is that they were…
Pauline Black is here to teach the children how it is done.
As a ska fan and afficianado... thank you.
My wife asked me after the episode where I thought things were going with the season. I told her that we’re two episodes in, so there is no point in even trying to figure it all out. This series has always been pretty good about pulling the rug out from under you, so it is hard to guess this short into it.
Thanks, but we can all decide for ourselves what is and isn’t worth caring about.
I agree. It’s impossible to be concerned about more than one thing.
Toshihiro Kasahara, the guy credited with being the pioneer of teriyaki (Toshi’s), still has a restaurant in a nondescript strip mall 20 miles north of Seattle

And not…
It’s not the magic phones we’ve borrowed from cyberpunk that are the problem, it’s Invasive Corrupt Government and Corporate Big Brothers.
When I was in college, one 5:00 am a gas leak ignited in an apartment building and there was a large, very loud explosion. (Only one fatality, if anyone is interested.)
Testament is incredible, far superior to The Day After. It was also an absolutely devastating body blow of a movie when I saw it in high school. Pretty sure it holds up.
I was in high school and had already come to the conclusion that Reagan was gonna get us all vaporized anyways.
In 1983 I was 21 and this movie terrified me. Because then, as now, nuclear war was a very realistic and imminent fear. We had a nice break from that for a couple of decades but that’s over now.
