So believing women (and men, too!) is now ‘mob rule’?

No, it’s not. No one’s storming any mansions, not one of the accused has been physically attacked. A bunch of people sitting around discussing sexual harassment is so far from ‘mob rule’ that I’d wonder what you would call an actual mob.

Rumors are what the allegations get filtered down to by the time they make it through the defensive wall of money and power people like him can build around themselves.

The argument seems to be less “gay people can’t help being predators” and more like “it’s harder to make good, informed choices when not being hetero-normative makes you practically a criminal.”

I’d be more disturbed by this if Takai wasn’t in his 80s and if this didn’t happen nearly 40 years ago. Arguably, all gay sex was criminal and deviant in the 1980s. Society repressed and shamed gays, forcing them underground, which means their outlets for sexual activity weren’t always healthy. And it was, even more

It ends when an example is made and future members realize what is considered punishable behavior.

There’s no doubt he gets cut. If there’s one thing the NFL has always been clear on it’s that they have a hard moral line about domestic violence that cannot be crossed by 30 year old third stringers at a position where the team’s depth is ok.

Oh Roy Miller

I would distinguish between the workplace and private.

“A lot of dudes were grabbing girls asses in middle school and high school playfully.”

I know plenty of men who manage to treat me respectfully without being “taught.” That is not the problem.

Do the reckoning NOW. Call it all out, let companies figure out how they want to deal with it, what the repercussions should be, based on severity. Create an environment where this shit is no longer tolerated, where people will think twice before slapping a coworker on the ass, or making lewd sexual remarks, or

Pretty simple really, it ends when men stop doing these things to women. It’s not rocket science.

I think it’s just a symptom of a greater problem. Thinking of it as isolated examples or industry specific is wrong imo and that really these are lightning rods for what is already out there.

Oh, dear God in heaven, when they start in on Wall Street. The Times will have include a sexual harrassment magazine with the Sunday edition. You’d have to be a New Yorker to realize how instantly despicable so many of those guys are. Their very existence is a form of harrassment, and that comes across when they’re

and it’ll be a good megaphone to show to the other industries the financial costs/risks of shielding these assholes when it comes out. I mean they’re spending millions re shooting a movie to erase one actor, postponing shows and movies and ending lucrative deals.

Just assume that every female on the planet, and a whole lot of males, have been sexually harassed and/or assaulted vis a vis their jobs and we’ve now reached critical mass where these revelations have taken on a life of their own. And we’re only on showbiz at this point. We haven’t even gotten into religion or

This is getting insane, you know it’s getting insane when you start to lose track of how many allegations there are in any given 24 hour period now.

Ha! I did a lot of global travel when I was younger and noticed this exact bitterness among male expat sex tourists. They’d rant about how ‘Western women’ were too fat, feminist and career-oriented, but it was their loss, because said male expats (imagining themselves a real catch) moved to another country where all

I was reading this story an hour or so ago, in the waiting room for my therapist, who specializes in gender, sexuality, and their intersection with personality disorders. I showed this to her and she just got a confused look on her face and goes, “yeah, that’s a stumper.”

Frankly, I think the appeal to misogyny is simply symptomatic of this poor kid’s intrinsic sociopathic manipulative streak. When caught, sociopaths typically have some reasonable sounding reason for the behavior, but under close scrutiny, it doesn’t hold up.
