I don’t like the thing, and therefore it is objectively a bad thing. I am actually unable to comprehend someone having different personal taste when it comes to the consumption of art and culture than I do, therefore their taste must be inherently bad, while mine is true and good.

Also, I don’t think there’s a .gif of it, but there was a pretty good video breakdown a while back that showed just how showy and pointless the lightsaber choreography in The Phantom Menace was - that none of Obi-Wan’s or Darth Maul’s strikes were actually capable of connecting with their intended target.

Why go for the obvious answer when the opportunity exists to waste hours of our precious and fleeting lives poring over minutiae and formulating uncorroborated headcanon we can then get angry about being wrong when the story goes in a different direction later on?

I actually stumbled on a video of a Diarrhea Planet performance, once, and their sound was not at all what I expected, and definitely in line with a type of music I really like. And yet...Diarrhea Planet. 

Also, out of curiosity...what does “legitimate” criticism mean? What makes one set of criticisms legitimate, and another not? Or is it that it’s all just subjective opinion, and it only feels “legitimate” to the person leveling the criticism because it matches up with their perception of things?
