This has the potential to work, but a problem arises when several contacts were imported en masse to your contacts list at the same time. For example, I have about 200 contacts that all show the same "created" time-date stamp. A useful feature would be to have nesting sorting, so that I could sort by created date,

Hmm. Or you could try the local library for free.

How 'bout a recap on how to customize one's Lifehacker feed list to avoid issues one's not interested in, such as Mac, Vista, Google, GTD, whatever? I know you've posted this before but I seem to be having trouble finding it... thx

@keeblerelf: I find clean glass works very well and doesn't remove as much adhesive. I also know that Post-It and like companies now offer "super-sticky" notes that contain more adhesive.

I use both. I maintain a "formal" list in an Excel SS that allows me to sort on several criteria (e.g., priority, ease, category, % done, etc). I simply print out the whole page and carry it with me. When I need to add things to do, I write it down there and then update my digital list when I am processing and

I can get by with 5-6 hours per night as long as I can sleep in on the weekend and have a bit of Advil for the usual sleep-deprived headache. Not healthy I know, but my life doesn't allow more sleep than that right now (full-time worker, full-time student, full-time new daddy).

When using fill series (grabbing the square in the bottom right corner of a cell), hold down Ctrl while dragging to repeat the same value (1,2,3,4,... becomes 1,1,1,1,...; Sunday, Monday becomes Sunday, Monday, Sunday, Monday, etc).

I agree with the premise that it hurts more to use cash than a credit card, but having lost $300 one time, it also hurts a lot more to LOSE cash than it does to lose a credit card (assuming one cancels it promptly!).

Ditto on Toupix. So deceptively simple...

I had a friend who used chemical formulae: for example H2SO4 (too long out of school to think of a longer example)

@Irian: Re: Searching multiple PDF documents

I have been using LogMeIn (free) for several months as well and like how simple it is to set up and use. File transfer would be a nice feature but you get what you pay for. I haven't used the Rescue tool but like 'katana' I try to avoid serving as customer support for family and friends where possible.

Windows + D is also handy if you need to quickly minmize everything to see your desktop, then push it again (before doing anything else) to restore the windows. A little more useful than Windows+M in my opinion.

I start by collecting all of the clutter into one spot- generally the living room floor. I intentionally put it there so it receives full attention until it is taken care of. I have a trash pile, a paperwork pile, and a pile of "stuff" to put away. I find this takes less time than decluttering one item at a time,

@Major_Stitch: Agreed; Keep up the great work, LifeHacker!

Our company uses Outlook, so I have a PST file attached to it where I save all of my emails- incoming and outgoing. About once a week, I'll dump everything in my Sent Items folder to a SENT folder in an attached Outlook Data File (PST). I do the same with the email I receive in my inbox (RECEIVED). That way, I don't

Here along the Gulf Coast (read:Texas), one can join the Commit for Life (www.giveblood.org) program, where they offer incentives for donating, in addition to the scrumptuous cookies. For example, I have accumulated enough points to "purchase" a portable mp3 player. Not the only reason to donate of course, but makes

One thing I have done is had my work-based voice mail forwarded to my Outlook email via Avaya Voice Player. That way I have a permanent record of the (one-way) conversation, can speed up or slow down as necessary, and repeat as needed. Not as clean as email but faster. Downside- comes in as .lvp attachment so it
