1st Gear: I assume that Herr Corn’s potential severance package is, like many here in the US, to A: Neutralize any influence he may have from large stock holdings and B: Make him agree to not walk across the street to a competitor, or to the press, with his head full of inside information.

If VW sales tank (more?) in the coming year, particularly for theoretically unaffected gas model, then I’d say the market is responding appropriately with a “fuck VW” (and the prices will drop in response, to the rejoicing of, well, a few).

I attended a Cummins 2010 emissions-packaging seminar (almost as exciting as it sounds!) in 2009, and one thing has stuck with me:

As someone with a lot of experience in how engineering, development and R&D interface with other (usually much larger) branches in a corporation, I’ll be surprised if knowledge of this cheating went very high - at least before it was independently discovered.
