“and if they truly have the software at level 4+ they’re far ahead of everyone else in the game by an absurd margin.”

I dont know why I am bringing you out of the greys where you belong but a demo ride does not equal autonomy. No part of the Tesla is autonomous. This is false advertising.

They dont...this is the whole point. Elon is lying. Or stretching the truth. Or talking about futures in a way that make you think its the present. He is a sales man. Dont fall for a great salesman.

If anybody is familiar with the “Crossing The Chasm” series about technology adoption in consumer products...

I had a conversation with an adjuster that at some point strayed to EVs. He told me that they’re having a hell of a time with Teslas because repair costs after collisions are hard to estimate because parts availability is so hit and miss. As in, you don’t know whether the owner/insured will be in a rental for a couple

That’s a $3k Jeep that someone is asking $8k for.

Lidar can certainly work in precipitation. You need the right wavelengths.

Lidars big advantage is that it gives range. A camera can have a hard time distinguishing between a large square far away and a small one that’s closer. Multiple cameras can help thru paralax, but that’s limited too.

You think a camera is better in snow?

Then you’d be wrong

Having been in a Tesla Model 3 on autopilot that completely missed a corner and headed toward an 800 foot in a place where the road paint had been worn away, I call BS on the claim that LiDAR isn’t needed. Fortunately for me, the driver was being attentive.

It’s unclear if Elon knows he’s pushing vaporware, or if he truly believes he can do full autonomy without the LIDAR hardware that’s necessary to achieve it. Are his engineers telling him what he wants to hear, or is he just ignoring them?

Tesla is ahead of schedule.  They weren’t expecting to blow up in China for a couple more years.

No it doesnt,

Why do you think wealthy people that can afford luxury items such as a V12 BMW are automatically weak, insecure and dumb ?

This system is called “Autopilot” all these years without being able to change lanes?

I can’t tell if this is an April fool’s joke or not.

There may be no dipstick but often the dipstick tube remains. I have a B8 A4 Avant that came with no dipstick but the tube was still there, probably a carryover from previous model years or other installations of that engine (2.0 TFSI). I hated the electronic oil guage, mainly because the segments were not enough to

Hyundais, to me, have always looked like a mesh of design cues from other cars. This one has a touched up Ford Fusion front and upside down Civic hatch rear. Not that it is a bad thing, just that is what it looks like to me.
