That’s a good explanation, though for some reason it seems more noticeable or pronounced with Cooper than the other folks, he’s the only time I’ve really picked up on the pause. I get waiting for the crew, though even they make mistakes at times. Always a bit awkward when they have to give money back.

Yeah the pause not only kills time but it also makes the contestant worry that they may not have been correct. Then when they realize they’re correct it takes them a moment to recover before they pick the next category. So, it doesn’t “create suspense” or whatever his reason for doing it is, just wastes time.

Yep, couple of clever Canadians. Quietly *tsking* and shaking their heads whenever someone south of their borders misses a question about the provinces.

I thought producer guy, Mike Richards, was the best. He kept the game running smoothly, didn’t pause too long between questions (Cooper is a bit guilty of that) or tell time-consuming jokes (Couric and a bit of Jennings), and he was very sweet about remembering Trebek throughout the show. Also, he knew he was a behind

That was a really helpful article! I typically ignore the intros of Jeopardy (because they linger on the contestant’s faces for an awkward amount of time) and I didn’t see what he did. Though yeah, that’s sort of close but really not that close to the WP gesture. And Snopes mentioned he gave a legit apology on his FB.

Well he probably didn’t get to amass the type of knowledge to qualify for Jeopardy by dicking around on sites like 4Chan where this type of white supremacy gesture co-opting gets cooked up. So in this case, he wouldn’t be stupid, he’d be ignorant. There have been countless times where a Jeopardy trio will nail

The difference is that everybody in the US knows, and is educated from a young age, about what sticking up your middle finger means and why not to do it. And you still catch people accidentally, absentmindedly count on their fingers or scratch their face etc. and it looks like they’re flicking somebody off.

Yeah even if this guy is really smart at trivia, he might not be so up on 4chan and internet message boards and the many right wing dogwhistle motions. If he did that thing where you put your thumb and index together in a circle and then splay your other three fingers out in what used to be the “OK” gesture or that

It also helped that there was the Tolkien source material to draw from, whereas with Dooku it was pretty much just a guy Lucas made up. Though yeah, Saruman was waaaaay more memorable and part of the reason why the second in the trilogy is my favorite. Him and McKellen had some good scenes throughout, even in the

in the sixth one it was his plan to use Leia and Chewbacca and Lando to save Han and also going after Vader. He wasn’t in charge like Mon Mothma but he definitely commanded a lot of their resources.

Capaldi! Seeing him in G or PG stuff always amuses me because I grew up watching him in “Skins” and “The Thick of it”

Yes, props to McGregor, he totally deserves that Star Wars money. I love him in lots of other things as well. I also enjoyed seeing Christopher Lee pull off another villain role with ease, but I wish Dooku had been more memorable and hadn’t had such an ignoble end. Like, with a more talented and interpersonal director

“Perhaps this will be a morally instructive tale that will be treasured for generations to come” yes, the moral is keep your butt grenades where they belong, in your/your partner’s butt, don’t abandon them to the wilds!

I agree that the name and content are going to raise some questions, but if she answered them through her songs then that’s her only obligation as a maker of music. If she had promised a documentary about her family life and never mentioned her father, then that would be a bait and switch, but as an artist, her job is

I agree with you, especially the last paragraph. Just because St. Vincent mentions the album is partially inspired by her father doesn’t mean that her family life is open season. If she wants to elaborate on their relationship, or lack thereof, through songs then that’s her prerogative as an artist. I get that it

I agree with everything you said. Ewoks with moxie taking down guys in durasteel with lasers was pretty lame and required too much suspension of disbelief. Also, even though Luke can do some great things with the force, why the hell would experienced generals in the rebels trust a moisture farmer with key strategic

I mentioned it in more depth in a previous reply to Laserface up in the previous comments, but McGregor’s Obi-Wan was easily the best part of the prequels. He was the only consistently entertaining and compelling part and he got all the interesting missions/fights. So I’m glad to see him get another go, hopefully this

True, I really like the clone wars setting and I’m glad that Tartakovsky version is coming to Disney+ and even though McGregor wasn’t a fan of his experience in the prequels, Obi-Wan was the best part of any of them, easily. The Obi/Qui-Gon/Darth Maul fight was a wonderful part of Phantom Menace (probably because an

I mostly remember it for them getting drunk all the time, rather than Uncle Monty, but I agree with you. Especially since it was based on a real person, but I also wish they hadn’t used it for laughs. Reminds me of “Mad Men” where, not to spoil too much, a guy in power who typically is into women comes onto a gay

Yeah I liked Margot a lot more in the TV adaptation. I’m glad a gay man, Fuller, was able to take the good parts of the source material and leave the negative stuff, and make a really LGBTQ positive show.
