Yep, for someone so tall and slender D’Arcy Carden is pretty curvy as well. Combined with the *fingers crossed* emmy winning acting talent and pleasantness and hilarity she really does have it all. Her husband is a lucky fella.

I agree. Same with folks who have Goethe. Like if they have Hemingway, Goethe, Nabakov (Lolita), and Turgenev on their shelves that is pretty well rounded and I can forgive some Bukowski.
Which is interesting because he rejects that label of nihilism. I mean, I’m just getting that from wikipedia but it is kind of funny that poseur nihilists would use him as a benchmark when he doesn’t even ascribe to that classification. Like when republicans use “Born in the USA” or “Fortunate Son” without thinking it…
Well I must be screwed because I liked both of them?
“Hitchhiker’s Guide” was much more of an adventure and somehow had more practical advice than “On the Road”
Yeah I’ve noticed everyone on this particular thread so far has either only mentioned Fight Club or the movie version of it. Like, the guy has written other books than just “Fight Club” and it isn’t his fault if a bunch of bros misread the point of a movie adaptation of maybe his fifth best book.
Hemingway isn’t always great with female characters “A Farewell to Arms” is definitely an example of his failing that. Though “For Whom the Bell Tolls” was a lot better in that regard.
Yeah Selena’s head in a box... kind of mirroring that time Hush cut her heart out and put it in a box for Batman to find! brilliant.
Haha yeah I remember this one scene where tall ass Carden is just looming over Abbi in the kitchen at a party and asking her all these uncomfortable questions. And then in the last season when people think Abbi is missing and the news interviews Carden’s character she lets out a wail just like Janet’s imitation of a…
I can understand that, being young (junior high) and adding an affectation to feel closer to a band you like and then keeping it when you go into show business. Lots of people change their names for SAG reasons but for her it was a personal one that ended up sticking with her.
Yeah I agree, especially the phrase “populating Gotham with them” because they all live there and presumably overlap or team up or just run into one another. Batman Begins did it pretty nicely. I think with Penguin he’s someone who can fit into any story because of his underworld connections which fits nicely with…
Except he does both. He fights the causes of crime as Bruce Wayne, donating bunches of money for social programs, building Gotham’s infrastructure, creating jobs with Wayne industries, and founding orphanages and children’s hospitals etc. Then he fights the symptoms as Batman, because while some of the low level goons…
Not me! That movie was great. Well, maybe a smidge long and I needed subtitles for their accents but i was still blown away. The rapport between Pattinson and Dafoe was superb. I saw it in theaters and watched it again on prime. the former was more impressive but the latter was more tolerable, being able to pause the…
He’s been in a lot of good stuff: The Lighthouse, Good Time, High Life, Lost City of Z, Cosmopolis (even though nobody saw that). The Rover was decent but his performance was great.
This trailer feels like if Nolan had a child and it was raised by David Fincher and occasionally Paul Thomas Anderson babysat.
Yeah King Shark is the only one I think would stand a chance, cause if memory serves he is the son of a god and is one of the nemeses of Superman’s son. Though yeah any of the other three vs. superman or even batman would be pretty laughable. Unless Deadshot has a kryptonite bullet in which case that’d be interesting.…
To be fair, few live action comic adaptations can match DCAU. Justice League back in the day was so good. And the modern DCAU is killing it with Assault on Arkham and JL:Dark and the various Batman ones.
Yeah at his best Darkseid reminds me of a monster heel in pro wrestling. Just stands there all intimidating until he has to kick ass and goes out and does his thing. And he can give a speech if he needs to, or send out his flunkies, but when the big man comes to the ring there is no need for a catchphrase or action…
It is interesting contemplating a batman or superman that would kill, and how they would turn out, when you look at characters such as Owlman in the Justice Lords or the Injustice version of Superman or the movie “Brightburn” but you’re right in that it just makes them terrifying and not necessarily more realistic…
Well with that one I can kind of get why people would be angry because the rest of the films in the “Alien” and “Predator” franchises are rated R and having twice the antagonists with half the gore and violence would be weird. I know that some of the films in each franchise rely on tension and anticipation and fear…
