In fairness, what color your life is shouldn’t matter. It does, but it shouldn’t, and I don’t think we should be encouraging that certain lives don’t matter. We can recognize an institution is flawed and bigoted without becoming what we hate.

Admittedly, in some cases indulging the producers turned things around, like in FFXIV’s case. But unless there’s oversight, it can quickly turn into a mess, and such a privilege shouldn’t be handed out all the time.

The key word is “factored”. News would be a factor, because news of new consoles moves stock, and thus affects the current fiscal year. They’re saying that there will be nothing regarding new hardware as a factor this fiscal year, so there won’t likely be news either.

The Gamecube and Switch lacking BC makes sense because they completely changed the form factor of their games from cartridge to optical, and then back to cartridge again. Sucks, but generally you’re not going to get backwards compatibility in those situations.
