I think it’s less that they considered death preferrable to the side effects than it was that they considered death preferrable to being told what to do, while also believing that they couldn’t possibly die from Covid and performing mental gymnastics to justify that belief.

Sadly, many studios and publishers lump together the vitriol and most negative feedback together nowadays. Especially companies like Square Enix, where if it’s not glowing praise they generally don’t want to hear it.
