In fairness, most languages have a word that means “not us”. In English, that word is “foreigner” (and sometimes “alien”, not to mention the ethno-centric slurs we seem to come up with on a yearly basis), so “Gaijin” really isn’t the mic drop you seem to think it is.

True enough. I personally don’t find this particular offense that horrendous as I find it difficult to get angry at the idea of a largely homogenous Asian nation putting out a game setting that’s near-universally white. Were this something like Hollywood or Great Britain or whatever, I’d probably find it a lot more…

What I vastly prefer are game launchers that give these options on first open and then never open again unless I do so manually to change something.
