I find it works better with my wife to just buy what I want, and she can see it when I pull up in it. I have done that with my last 3 cars and my boat last year. 

I have had customers not fill their tank for 8 or 9 months. They suggest 93 octane for stability. The Volt has a maintenance mode that at first asks you if you want to perform, and then does it on its own after saying no to doing it a few times. This keeps the gas lines clean and oil in the engine moving.
