And what I'm saying is that when Atheists use philosophy to detract from a discussion about evidence in order to direct the conversation to the non-existence of God that is an example of when philosophy harms rather than helps the conversation. Maybe philosophy is simply their tool but I don't see the discipline

I'm making a series of sustainable living films. Some advice, some are indie films based on my short fiction stories and not all directly linked to environmental issues. It's slow going and I admit I'm getting discouraged even though it's definitely my passion.

Now you're just not thinking. What made you think I don't understand logical fallacy? You're doing a great job proving my point here. Many commenters who use philosophy don't care to discuss comments, they just go on arbitrary rants as you are doing now. My point was: ideology has no place in modern science.

The fallacy in regards to philosophy? Did you not read my entire comment?

OMG I am so with dGt on this one! It's not so much philosophy that's useless, it's how people toss it around with so much narcissism and self-importance. They love their terms like "that's a straw man argument" when it could just as easily been stated in plain terms. It's like they're trying to live in their own

I have a recurring dream that the moon (yeah I saw the article) floats into our atmosphere and basically is about to kill us all. It's very much like the video. Nice imagination working here!

Ugh, let's hope tornadoes have had enough of western Mass!

He was a very talented doctor! Great at treating animals and an entertainingly eccentric guy. ;)

Terrible. I'm sorry for your experience. I worked a long time ago at the MSPCA and a few days after the tornado I was driving to the new shelter Dakin to work with the staff placing some stray animals. I drove there and everything looked the same. I turned around to drive home and the other way was shocking. Crumbled

You should have dumped the peanut butter into her hair.

I'm sure 99 percent of women in the Western world have a similar story. I certainly do, although funnier yet was when I worked as a veterinary nurse; cute doctor filling in for the day was doing surgery on a dog with multiple tumors (the dog recovered well after btw); and a teenage boy was scheduled to help out for

Oh and ps the most useful thing I learned about humiliation is that most people (meaning everyone) pays no attention to others because we're all so busy obsessing about how we look and act and come across so we feel eyes on us all the time when in reality most of us are 99 percent busy thinking only about ourselves.

Best story on i09 yet. Our society focuses on weight when really, it's not all that attractive to be too skinny either. I've always been very jealous of some heavier individuals' "Ladies". When I look down and can't really see any hips or breasts, and feel more like a teenaged boy than a woman well, that's not a proud

The similarities to Creationist claims are striking. Even absent the mention of Bible stories. There's "uncertainty" and ideas get "overturned" Yeah so that proves that climate change is just a theory. Get it? This from a network that said the Noah movie was a documentary.

    Haaa! You rock, sister.

Yeah, you guys care so much about babies you'd like to deprive them of food education and health insurance once they're outside the womb. Just admit your main goal is to control women and we'll just follow you back to the dark ages.

UGH! I wonder how many of them panned out / were actual tornadoes compared to those in Iowa?

Yes, that took everyone by surprise here. But it's a progressive community and we weren't under the impression that we'd be spared severe weather. Still 3 people lost their lives including a mom protecting her daughter. Our state has the highest number of tornado deaths per sq mi simply because we're all jammed in

@%&$## WHY did I have to choose a home in the one place in Massachusetts that's a basic mini tornado alley? :0
