I'm a little surprised that out of all the crazy stuff to talk about in this episode that that's the statement people are focusing on. (Not you in particular, because the commedia dell'arte idea is interesting and you bring up a question about a specific point rather than "Why are you so stupid?") Nobody wants to talk

I agree about annoyed at the way Whedon sacrificed a character to get what was basically a filmmaking Mario-star-of-invincibility to power up the whole siege sequence. (It's kind of fun to imagine the song cutting in, all "Watch how I—" BAM — dah dah dah da-dah dah da-da-da-dah, dah dah dah da-dah dah da-da-da-dah.)

We did! I said that I hadn't watched much of it and wasn't a big fan, and was convinced into starting from the beginning. Apparantly I somehow had managed to catch the five darkest episodes (including "Boat" and Dennis' implications, which was such a disturbing intro to the character) and thought every episode was
