I believe the flame effect is not an "outfit" but instead his chakra showing, like the flames that surround DBZ characters when they go Super Saiyan.
Though the first flash forward is arguably "LOST"'s most famous twist, I was personally blown away when Locke turned out to be...not quite himself in the season 5 finale. It was a twist that made me rethink a good chunk of season 5, as well as up the stakes of the overall plot.

I had the same thought about the Yakuza being the big bad, but then I realized it's not really the Yakuza but the "True Blood" corporation, which makes a lot of sense to me and feels appropriate. Obviously no Edgington, but oh well.

http://s4t7.com/wp-content/upl… I have been enjoying the heck out of "Space Dandy" for a similar reason; most of the concepts they come up with for alien species and spacial/temporal occurrences are SO out there I can almost believe they are real examples of life beyond Earth—not even remotely human.
Yeah, it was Geoff Johns' last storyline where the Guardians remove all emotion (forcibly from Ganthet) and the Green Lanterns have to take them down. In the end Sinestro kills all the Guardians, but spares Ganthet and his love Sayd, which he keeps a secret from Hal and everyone else so that they can go off in peace.
I feel like these two are my answer for many Io9 lists—with good reason!
