What’s that? GM is making a profitable product that people are buying?

A big, agnostic Amen!
Right, drill baby drill!!!
Most of the excretion’s bullshit is straight up illegal. Blame the Republicans in all your comments - they MUST own the excretory policies or join the resistance. They remain silent, they get tarred with the same brush - they will go down in history for it. Never stop making sure they know you SEE them.
Agreed. VW faces an uphill struggle not because of the EVs that they’re trying to sell (though the price/value for a lot of them is iffy); the reason VW has a problem is because over the past 35 years virtually every car buyer has owned a VW or known a VW owner and every conversion about these experiences involves…
I would just love to sit in at a board meeting at Chevron or Exxon-Mobile and listen to the execs talk about their desire to spend billions more to extract new sources of oil that they could refine and then sell at lower profit margins. I bet they’re all just giddy about that idea... /s
I mean, if you don’t do any research, one could imagine that you might be correct. But the Prius, the Efficient Car Poster Boy, is well below both mean and median new car prices. So are the Accord Hybrid, Civic Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, Corolla Hybrid. All with 50+ MPG. The efficient cars are absolutely not more expensive…
This is a psychological issue not a practical one. You get to fill your car at home and have anywhere from 100 to 300 miles to exploit daily. Do you really think you will find yourself in a dangerous part of town after driving around for 300 miles in one day?
That’s debatable, though. It’s both the consumers’ fault, but also the manufacturers (and dealers) who push more expensive SUV/CUVs at the expense of cheaper, more practical vehicles..
Conversely, 4 minutes of charging might get you out of that sketch part of town. Also, better planning might have completely avoided your scenario.
Much as oil-barons and their toadies in DC want, EVs are not going away. EVs are FAR better as appliance-like personal transportation (less maintenance, instant acceleration, smoother operation, no gas station visits) than slow, noisy ICE vehicles.
Weren’t you listening? Gas prices will go down because we’re going to drill for more oil. And I think Canada is going to pay for it, or something like that. Don’t get hung up to much on the details.
Hey Red-Hat dipshits! Know what would be a great way to keep costs for working folks down?
The biggest problem America has with nationalizing things is that Republicans will then actively work to ruin it so that it can get privatized, and we have a bunch of people that actually support that plan. Currently very visible in our (lack of) healthcare & education. They haven’t fully succeeded at privatizing…
Canada here. Nationalize that shit. The power grid should be a public utility. You end up with cheap reliable power.
The Trump Nazis are itching to unleash violence on us. Don’t give them the excuse they need.

Go fash, lose cash.
First Gear: Never forget that the asshole oligarchs can only exist because of the rest of us. We buy the shit they shovel, and there are plenty of other shit-purveyors to go around.
He added the rule “would have added massive amounts of time, complexity, paperwork and cost to the car-buying and car-shopping experience for virtually every customer.”
