This game rules in terms of exploration and adventuring. It hasn't been a grindfest at all for me. I spend a lot of time just running around trying to find points of interests and vista points. Why would you recommend an AMD cpu over Core i5?

I have constant connection problems on Xbox Live, not to mention it costs $50 a year. Ugh. I don't play my Xbox enough to warrant that.

I don't understand how the game could run poorly on a Core i7 and a Geforce 690. What frame rates are you getting exactly? Even if the i7 is old, I can't imagine it being much slower than current processors right? If anything, that i7 is probably the bottleneck though...
