Is it me or 2016 was incredibly dry anime-wise? I didn’t watch Berserk yet, but I can’t think of a series that stood out among all the yaoi & harem crap. And what was with all the sports shows?

It’s strange that you assume anyone who plays video games lives in their parents’ basement. It’s not the 1980s any more – I live with my wife, who also plays Pokemon, and this by no means an uncommon situation. Is it really so hard to understand that people might enjoy a thing you don’t, and that it’s perfectly fine…
