To be fair...this is real right up to the spike there. It's not unusual to have a bit of a grill blocked off..if the grill just ended there it would look pretty silly.

I don't know, we have okay taxi service in Germany. The cars are mostly in great condition and you can order taxis via apps since practically ages. Yes, they are prohibitively expensive and could need some competition on prizes.

If the issue with uber was just a comparison of services your statement would be correct, but it is not. The way I'd go is put no head unit at all: just speakers, hidden amplifiers and master volume control. The amplifier would be connected to the audio source via a micro USB/Apple lightning cable (so maybe a separate DAC) or 3.5mm jack.
