Global Hawk is looking like it’s going to replace the U2 though. The AF has basically committed to it and discarded Lockheed’s unmanned U2 plan.

Now playing

Can’t wait to go home to visit this month.

My boss is obsessed with Disney. It makes me uncomfortable when he talks about it. At the same time I admire his lack of shame as a mid-30s man who loooooves Disney. I just cannot be that “into” anything, except maybe drinking. So he’ll probably get the last laugh when I die of cirrhosis.

Admittedly I don’t know a lot about the east coast burbs; I did live in Virginia Beach for about six months when I was in the service but that’s it. But out west man, the burbs are fuckin terrible. I can’t stand them. And I’ll probably end up moving there in order to buy a home pretty soon but fuck me, a year in

I have also been on several juries and I honestly found them all great. They were filled with individuals who absolutely understood the gravity of the process they were asked to participate in and acted thusly. All of my jury experience has been positive.

When I was in the military and deploying to war zones, they would require that we wrote a will. Very few people took it very seriously. I think I had the legal officer write that “I wanted my body thrown from a helicopter over a forest in Western Washington State.” I guess since I haven’t changed it, it might still be

No shit, otherwise my acquaintances wouldn't have cut and run.

You’re probably right! But a company is a company; it’s a potential source of income not my buddy. I work to live I don’t live to work, and living to work is what is required of the people who work in these types of companies. That works for some people, and that's fine! For myself and the people that I tend to be

I personally just couldn’t get it to click. I think I’ve just outgrown games with that many “RPG elements”. I felt like there was too much to manage. I like the subject matter and the concept of Fallout, but when I get home from the office I want to enjoy a game, not feel like I’m working again. Manage, manage, die,

Oh I’m aware, I work in the industry albeit not as a traditional engineer. The few people I know who’ve crossed paths with SpaceX and are relatively young, like me, were pretty turned off by their experiences. Just anecdotal, but I've certainly gotten an earful about it. I'm sure they have no trouble finding

You can get a lot done when you expect your employees to work grueling hours, neglect their home lives, and sacrifice all at the temple of Elon.

I don’t think he’d disagree with you, actually.

I wish people would get past the stigma and realize that Marx still has something to teach us. The existence of Stalin doesn’t repudiate Marx! There’s very little in common there. Especially through the lens of failed “communist” states and the fall of the eastern bloc, Marx takes on entirely new and important

All this console wars shit is beyond childish. “Who’s winning?? OMG PS4 outsells XBone by X amount!” Is your fucking retirement portfolio resting on who’s stock performs better or something? I have an Xbox One. It’s nice. It works well and it does lots of things for me besides just games. It was worth the price of

You answered your own question, devs and publishers have to sign off on it. Some of them may want to milk their franchises for all the “HD Remasters” they can manage.

I know this probably isn’t the place for this (but it’s the latest Fallout 4 post), and it’s kind of controversial, but I’m so far not really impressed with the game :/

The whole Vaping “community” is so bizarre to me. I smoked cigarettes for a decade. When I decided I wanted to quit I tried Vaping. It didn’t work ultimately (gave me a gnarly lung infection actually) and I ended up just quitting cold turkey, but it did expose me to Vaping “enthusiasts.” I don’t really understand why

Things like this are beyond infuriating. And it greatly saddens me how many people see absolutely no problem with this.

I actually use Here Maps for this and it works fantastic. It doesn't have a POI database worth a damn, but if you know the address you're going to it's perfect. I live in San Diego and make trips into Baja pretty often, I usually use it then. Or any time I don't want Google Maps chewing through data.

I have a degree in Philosophy and I make pretty good money in INFOSEC. Not related to my degree at all.
