Rubbins-Racin has some fun “Darf” posters, you know normal race fan stuff. The real fun is when you get to the political threads and it becomes clear that there’s 2 polar opposites on that forum when it comes views. Gets old real fast when the same 6-8 people constantly start shitstorms over the current political

I was told that the whole plan for the SS being in America was for use in NASCAR.

The change was at the request of the teams, under the new charter system. I’m sure this goof done pissed off the RTA.

I think you are thinking of Sterling Marlin’s Morgan-McClure cars with the exhaust ;)

Hand out is an understatement. The official removes one from his box and watches you bolt it on. He then has you place a seal that runs from a carb stud to an intake stud, while he watches. There’s also a couple other things he checks while you’re doing that.

The trackbar penalties are because in SS racing, NASCAR makes it clear that you have a maximum angle split you can run (the more angle, the more you can get the rear of the car to lower). You may be on that line when you go through initial tech, but the car travelling on the track at speed can slightly push you over

‘How about “if you qualify and park - for the money - you don’t get invited back”.’

All I got out of this is that I live in the same state as you. Now I’m definitely never leaving the shop

If you ask Robby he’ll still say he won at Montreal in 2007 lol. He even has a win banner in his shop for it.

The banking at Winchester (pictured), Salem, or Bristol. Bristol’s cool because of how built up it is, but I prefer the down-to-earth insanity of Winchester & Salem. As for the picture, well, we had a wet weekend at the 2013 ARCA event.

Started working on an old Camping World truck a couple years ago, and found this message written on the chassis.... The Truck is 15 years old, but luckily this didn’t turn out to be an omen and we gave the boss a couple decent finishes with the truck.

Had a buddy in high school that had a convertible. My biggest memory of it was when the hood decided to depart while he was going down the road, and him having to abandon the hood on the side of said road because he was 30 miles from home and had no place to put the hood.

Now when you get to the big track stuff, it does help aero-wise.

Yeah it was definitely a “let’s eat potato chips over here while we watch the exterminators try to take care of the bees” moment.

The Comanche I had in High school had a similar issue. Moisture had gotten into the cab due to a leaking windshield, and both the left side bolts sheered off before I could say “get the drill”

I was there for the Nopecar bees incident. Was working on the 40 car, noticed some bees flying around. “ok, that’s cool.” 5 minutes later I look to the right where Derrike’s hauler is, and saw bees. Then I decided it was time to take a 5....

It makes all the difference in the world. By skewing the rear end, the car grips better in the corners. Acting as a “rear steer” without resorting to rear steer. In NASCAR, we have a tolerance we can skew the rear ends. Sometimes you can get away with moving a trailing arm, sometimes we have to actually bend the rear

Might be too late, but Carter 2 Motorsports in ARCA. Personal here, as I was talked into working for the team when I got out of school. Got maybe 3 paychecks in a month and a half, and watched driver’s equipment, workers tools, and money disappear like no other. Roger recently left NC after getting busted for fraud.

Sad what happened to that team. Met Travis in the past year and he’s a really nice guy, the implosion of Kmart hurt that team like no other.

The old promoter Humpy Wheeler was famous for finding guys like this. From jumping buses, wheeling a shark on a flatbed around the track, reenacting Operation Urgent Fury, to all you can eat grandstand food!
