I think you’re missing the idea that people spout a lot of bullshit and call it ‘facts’. People can absolutely be wrong, and what is presented as a fact can abSOLUTELY be refuted.

my point was that you used refute incorrectly. ‘ignore’ would probably be better in that sentence to get your point across. Using ‘refute’ there makes the sentence say the arguments will be correct and prove you wrong . . . and it seemed like you wanted to say the opposite— that the arguments will IGNORE facts.

If we need a Midwest state, it seems like Wisconsin is the obvious choice. All the same nice natural features as Michigan (plus the bluffs along the Mississippi!) along with the best cheeses. We’d also maintain access to Spotted Cow.
