I went with a 8gb model and attached a 500gb usb drive that I already owned. The only difference between the deluxe and basic model is the free game (which if it's Zombie U, really isn't that great), 24 more gb (which you'll need more than that eventually), and a charge cradle: big woop.

And this is exactly why I bought a Wii U last week, that and the fact I can play years of Wii titles I missed out on. Sticking to a PC and Wii U is probably the best way to go this generation.
