I don't think the buyer was part of the scam, but he was definitely knew it was a scam and was trying to benefit from it. Yep, great advice. I always bring my OBD scanner for other stuff but a great other use. You would know pretty quickly too, since once you ask to do it, the seller would most likely get skittish.
