The entire point i was making is that it happened to me and i turned out alright. I never implied that it would be tbe same for every person. There are a great many factors in life, mine included, that shape you as a person. You can stop trying to jump down my throat now.

Of course they did. I was pointing out about the negatives in particular.

I'm not sure how you can possibly know what i am or am not. Of course having positive reinforcement to go along with positive behavior goes a long way as well. But you can't just let the negatives go by the wayside with no consequences.

Beating was too strong a word, what i was trying convey was essentially, as you said, spanking.

I've seen a lot of what the generation after mine does and how they act, mostly oversensitive types are afraid to beat their children (again, strictly things like belt to butt, where if you are doing it correctly just causes quick temporary pain and nothing more) because of fear of someone finding out and crying…

I was beaten as a child, belt, strictly to the buttocks, and I'd like to consider myself one of the nicest, open minded and considerate people out there. Point is, beating your children when appropriate is just fine. Crossing the line into abuse is where that problem usually lies.
