Seems a good 50% of auctions on BaT at any given time are 911s. Not saying I don’t like them, but certainly doesn’t feel as though they are rare or difficult to get... just difficult to afford.

For anyone that is in to these types of concepts; I highly recommend the book Fast Forward. Incredible photography of a lot of these types of cars.

Thanks for the revival; I actually enjoyed going through the pics again.

I pretty much NP every car presented that is under $4k. So $2k for a decent early 90s wagon is a no-brainer for me. I would figure out something fun to do with it in a sleeper sort of way.

Sure beats a Johnny Cab.

Are they trying to find people that don’t normally use their cars? I know plenty of people here in Chicago who have cars, but naturally don’t use them for long periods of time.

This takes effort and government-run transit agencies are lazy. Furthermore they will get local “leaders” butting in on transit planning. This has nothing to do with actual commuting patterns.

I once heard someone say, in regards to art collecting, buy something you actually like because there is no guarantee the artwork is going to appreciate. Then you’ll at least enjoy the art for what it is.

uploaded by Aston CEO Andy Palmer to Twitter for some reason.

Just some clarification here for me: Has he been buying these new for a couple decades and importing them here with the plan to sell them when they eclipse the 25 year rule? I’m not aware how that 25 year import rule works.

What I always thought was weird was that LBJ continued using that Lincoln when he was president. Yeah, I know its not like now where multiple limos are used, and yadda yadda, but if I were LBJ I wouldn’t have wanted that type of karma carting me around.

As once having been an 18 year-old boy myself, the things I would have done to myself alone in that car if Marilyn Monroe had given me her car...

A lot of ironic NP votes coming in now.

Hey, hey, hey...

This is what I thought when I read the headline and then the article. Car fandom is full of all sorts of inexplicable love for a make, model, segment, etc. You gave Ferrari as an example and Torch shat all over it, but maybe if it was a vintage VW restorer having trouble with deliveries, he’d help. He gets the point.

On the 12+ hour flight from Chicago to Tokyo I watched 4.5 Marvel movies in “order” (starting with Captain America: First Avenger, but skipping Incredible Hulk as they didn’t have that one). It was actually quite painful.

Infiniti: “But how are they going to know its a luxury car?”

When I bought my ‘09 135i “new” it had about 200 miles on it. I thought it was strange, but I got no deal on it. I’m sure me having it brought from another dealership and not buying from their inventory had a lot to do with that.
