This Lotus is my absolute favorite of his that he drove during his tenure... even more than Wet Nellie or the Citron.

This I did actually know about (including the part about Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) However, this was more about land-owners that were looking to cash-in on real estate for the highways; see the sub-plot to L.A. Confidential).
US cities din’t switch to buses because of some conspiracy; when populations shift it is a lot easier to re-route/create a bus route than to do so with streetcars. Local governments are interminably stupid, but they’d even be able to do the math on that one.

Seems like SUVs are an obvious member of this list, but it is interesting that the entry-level, or cheap, nice sports cars are on here. Thinking about it; if you can afford a 911 or R8, or SL, you can probably afford to turn it over every couple years to get the newest one.
