Dum dum you’re reading the chart backwards. It says that the US has one of the lightest tax burdens our of the nations ranked. It ranks 32 out of the 35 nations in terms of tax burden (from highest to lightest). You see how the bar for New Zealand is higher than the one for the US?

That’s median household income. Meaning a lot of those households include more than one working adult.
