Having timed rounds and corner assessments limits the risk of severe long-term injury. I understand it from a fighters’ perspective, though. But I think if you’ve got your submission locked in, your opponent isn’t going to be able to run-out the time clock, which I know is a complaint a lot of MMA fighters have.
