Let me try to flesh out the thought process I had when I heard the words. It’ll take a lot more words than it did concepts and I don’t know even now whether you and I are in agreement. Here goes:

I’ve always thought that this was the kind of thing you bought and pulled up into the yard next to a fourth-gen wrecked-but-running Chevy 1500 pickup and carefully extract all the original British bits from the Rover and deposit them in a dumpster, while removing all the American bits from the Chevy and reinstall them…

It’s handsome and would be fun to own, but I’d rather have the similar - and similarly-impractical - Jeep Wagoneer SJ. Same sort of power and economy, slightly larger, posh (for an American SUV) and good looking.
