If I were a Cadillac mechanic I would jump at the chance. Give me 30 minutes to read up on as much as I can and another two hours to go over as much as I can think of. I’d probably miss some details here and there but if I told you it was good to drive, it would be.  Not a lot of secrets in these older machines, it’s

If I recall correctly Cadillac was the first automaker to include an electric starter on its offerings; by the time this machine rolled out the door I think they were standard on all Cadillacs. You should be able to start it.

Damn, used car prices are out of control. Ten years ago a ten year old car was just half its new price, now a hundred year old jalopy is FOUR WHOLE TIMES its new car price.

I’d forgotten about Found on the Street.  I liked that.

COTD was fun but if you’re going to pitch the commentary as one of the main draws of Jalopnik then why come to Jalopnik at all? There’s buttload of commentary on Reddit, and a lot of it about cars, and Reddit Gold is arguably more practically useful a reward for a good comment than Jalopnik COTD.

Portal axles on an EV are a pretty direct fit, and if you’re willing to absorb the penalties associated with the added unsprung weight of portals, you start to look again at the possibilities of hub motors.

The pile of receipts is actually kind of a warning sign. WHY is there a pile of receipts? Did it really have to go to the shop that much?

The timing chain is great and it is one hell of a lot of car, probably actually close to worth it, but you don’t go asking five figures with the AC inop. It smells to me like a corpse the good Doctor Frankenstein is just fed up with trying to get all the nerves to fire at once, and he’s going to sell it on to someone

Trying to recapture the lightning from ten years ago.

Yes but no.

Are you kidding? A very significant portion of bikes even at such super-bike-centric events as the annual Sturgis rally are trailered in, and the ratio will only go up as Harley riders’ age bracket continues to go up and up and the riders can’t go all day in the saddle anymore.

It’s Harley-esque but we cannot establish sufficient provenance to prove that it is now, or ever was, a Harley.

I’m stealing this.

All that sawdust...

And you’re going to keep it.

So let me make sure I have all this in hand:

“Radically less difficult” means you actually have a chance at finding parts, instead of “You want a what for a what?” From impossible to merely infinitely improbable.

DUDE.

Torch, I said it before:

This is where “turning a wheel in anger” meets “turning a wheel in batshit madness.”
