Best of luck to the Kardashian-West clan, and I mean that sincerely. I grew up with a bipolar dad who I love very much but who was an incredibly volatile and frightening presence in my life for a good chunk of my childhood, so I have a ton of empathy for people navigating the mine field of how to treat their suffering

I can appreciate things like irresistible compulsions and being out of control of oneself — but it seems rare that people’s absolute, first-ever indications that they need help are when they’re actively hurting someone else.

It’s almost as if addiction doesn’t make you do or say terrible things if you're not already a terrible person.

John Mulaney is my favorite comedian, maybe ever—the guy very peculiarly appeals to my particular sense of humor. I hope he takes however he needs to recover and be well.

I can’t listen to “What’s New Pussycat?” without thinking about it having a little dip in the middle and being a lot longer than you think it is.

This is one of my few non-snarky posts. I only wish the best for John Mullaney. Recovery is HARD. I hope he has a good support system.

Man that sucks to hear about Mulaney. I just discovered his stuff maybe a year ago and have not laughed as hard since first hearing Eddie Izzard and Patton Oswalt back in the 90's. On top of his obvious talent, he just seems like a lovely person, hope he gets the help he needs to kick all this shit.

I love “Loose horse in a hospital” bit about Trump and also whenever I see Kushner I remember Mulaney saying: “Whoa, that tall child looks terrible!” lol

I hope John Mulaney gets the help he needs comes out of this stronger. The last 10 months have been rough for everyone, and it’s good to hear that he wants to get better.

What is that ring? Seriously I know it doesn’t need to be traditional and everyone can design differently but WHY?

I don’t love the ring choice. Diamonds get dulled easily and require frequent cleaning, which is at odds with the pearl’s delicacy. Plus, the offset diamond offends my preference for symmetry.

This is what we’ve been missing by elevating mediocre white male “creatives” in Hollywood all these years: someone who can stand with victims first while having the mental bandwidth to empathize and reflect on working with people who are harmful but also suffering themselves.

well here is another snarky article about Taylor Swift. I’m not a huge fan but I am enjoying Folklore. I’m so over Jez’s take of her.

Michael B. Jordan’s a better choice, Obama. Dude hasn’t been creeping on teenagers.

I have a high tolerance for teens and early-20-somethings melting down over the end of long-term relationships. It appears rare to have the maturity and foresight to know/feel/understand that (a) this too shall pass, and (b) you will love again. Though I’m sure everyone in the comments here shitting on Cazzie David

Is it bad that I chuckled? I mean... anything seems less dramatic if you frame it that way. Doesn’t mean her suffering wasn’t valid as well.

sorry to disappoint you but it’s a wholesome holiday movie

I keep coming back to stories like these (the contempt that Stephen Miller’s family has for him is delicious) because it’s very much “there but for the grace of God go I.” I was raised Republican and Christian, and got even more “Christian” in college (switched branches and became super zealous and self-righteous)...

After watching this trailer, I’ve realized that I will 100% watch Dan Levy in absolutely anything.

Sorry, from now on I only want nothing but qualified career civil servants in office. The problem with celebrity politicians is they never want to start at the bottom and work their way up. They want big jobs first and think city council, or state house is beneath them.
