Probably everyone reading Jezebel agrees that The Apprentice was trash and Trump has always been a chaotic buffoon.

Amen! Erasure of uncomfortable history is incredibly foolish and kind of a huge problem in America.
This is dumb. This isn’t an Adolf Hitler situation. Charles Rose is a common name. There are other known people and brands with this name. Rose as a surname in general is very common and comes from many different cultures/languages - so none of them can get the cute first name of Charlie because a douchebag was a…
What’s really wild to contemplate is that once herd immunity is achieved and things go back to “normal”, there will be a new wave of mental health issues with which to grapple.
I wish I were surprised. There is a shocking amount of sex happening pretty much all the time in hospitals. Mostly between staff. While that may pose fewer ethical problems, it’s still f*cking disgusting.
*Facepalm* at my inability to spell oximeter. I got it in my head at some point that oxygen -> oxymeter and now there’s no looking back!
The man who peddles the chronic lyme crap is a monster who robs people with other diagnoses of the opportunity to seek real treatment. I know multiple people who delayed MS treatment because they were too busy treating their “chronic lyme disease.” It has never been traced back to an encounter with actual lyme…
Yeah, it’s kind of hard for me to get hot and bothered about this. It’s kind of telling that people are reacting like pretending to be partially from Spain = pretending to be POC. Like, all she’s doing is aligning herself with a different imperialist oppressor.
This is why we have people in our society who dedicate their lives/careers to studying ethics and understanding and implementing justice.
Ethics are broadly standardized ideas of right versus wrong as dictated by the social system.
There are a few different types of clinical reasoning that for some reason only therapists learn about, but really all providers should to know about and utilize.
Empathy says: “Wow, I bet I would be screwed up if I were abused my whole life too.” It also says: “Holy shit, I would probably want bloody revenge too if I were the family of the brutally murdered pregnant woman.”
Got it. ‘Empathy’ being inserted in places it doesn’t belong is just a pet peeve of mine. It doesn’t have a place in arguing over the death penalty for heinous crimes. That’s part of the problem with arguments for/against it. It actually has nothing to do with having empathy, compassion, etc. for a murderer.
It’s not a question of empathy. Empathy is a neurological trait, not a yardstick for ethics. Do I have empathy for this woman? No. Do I think it is ethical to kill her given the circumstances? Also, no.
It’s not a question of committing the crime. It’s clear she did that. It’s a question of whether or not we should be committing state-sanctioned murder when the person may not have been entirely in a sane state of mind when they committed the crime. I’d be interested to see what her brain scans look like from all of…
The problem is that many fellows etc. are not considered as technically on staff. I completed a special type of residency for one year and I was not staff - I was under the responsibility of my school. If I were there now, I would not be allowed to get the vaccine in spite of working directly with patients all day.
None of this is surprising. I predicted that upper level staff at hospitals (administrators, etc.) would not be excluded from this first wave of vaccinations even though they can work from home. Additionally, at some hospitals in Southern CA, residents and medical students who are completing internships that are…
I always come back to basic questions: Is someone being excluded from the conversation? Is someone receiving fewer resources than others? Is someone receiving fewer opportunities because of their ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc.? Is someone experiencing a threat to their safety? Is someone being paid less for the…
No nudge! Just clarifying so that my use of “boy shape” made sense.
Holy fuck. As an educator, I’ll admit I can totally imagine the annoyance of feeling like a grade-chaser was pestering me over break. I can also imagine completely prostrating myself and bending over backwards once the mistake was realized.* D’s end scholarships. That is unforgivable.
