Oops, I knew I got the name wrong. Of course, I've never seen Goodfellas, so all associated jokes go over my head.

There's actually a lot of interesting adult subtext going on with The Music Man, particularly between Henry Hill and Marian the Librarian. (And no, I'm not kidding). I mean, "The Sadder But Wiser Girl" isn't exactly subtle in its message.

"25 year old movie" and a "three decade old play." Check your math, please.

It was a deliberate joke.

True in general but they actually had pretty good, accurate coverage of this crisis.

Sure, but I can't imagine that would have been more than a cameo. He was practically a co-lead in Aliens, and there was no reason he couldn't have been featured as prominently in the next movie, which wasn't the case for Terminator.

But honestly, this plot idea really isn't screwing it up. In my view, it is the exact plot that should have come after Aliens - or at least before Alien Resurrection. No one ever really wanted to take on the issue of Ripley's motherhood, even though the undercurrent of it plays out through practically every single

Well, to be fair, it was pretty clear he wasn't going to be in Terminator 2 given the fact that Kyle Reese's death is the one plot point around which the entire Terminator universe revolves around (sorry, Jae Courtney, you're no Michael Biehn). But yeah, I always thought he got screwed post-Aliens, which is why I

Shout out to Zayre's! Must be a New Englander who put this together.

This is correct. But it is also correct that the Bush Administration pushed to make drugs to treat HIV/AIDS far more available than they were previously.

I understand. It's an imperfect metaphor for Vader - maybe a better example is Rasputin, though in terms of sheer scale of destruction, Hitler better matches Vader.

My problem with Cameron is that he sort of tipped over into cliche, at least with movies post-Titanic. But yes, Terminator and Aliens are good examples of well-plotted movies with so/so dialogue.

No, I wanted the story of Vader. I wanted the story of how someone becomes a genocidal maniac on a massive scale, since that is what Vader is supposed to be. That's not what those movies are.

Not to defend Lucas or the prequels, but there is a difference between plot and dialogue. So something can be overall well-written in that it has a compelling plot that makes logical sense but still have terrible dialogue.

Thank you!

The impact that the stories have had on the Catholic Church - one of the world's oldest and most powerful institutions - has been considerable. It's hard to compare the two events, of course, but there is a legitimate argument to be made, I think.

I know this story really, really (really, really) well. Your grandfather's recollections are similar to how a lot of Catholics in the Boston area understand the story. That being said, there was also some willful turning a blind-eye to the stories of abuse, as the movie notes.

But the review is still incorrect. The Globe's concern was that the Herald would run the story, not the Phoenix. The ecosystem of Boston media at the time was:

Upvoted for upvoting Newbury Comics.

You can still get music at Newbury Comics. But yes, it is also a good place to get pop culture artifacts. But given the fact that it is called "Newbury Comics" and not "Newbury Music," I'm not sure that isn't within the spirit of the store's origins.
