That was part of that whole scene with Libby, right? She was convincing herself that maybe this was the best thing for her kids because it would be about keeping them safe and happy. I suspect that Virginia was also trying to convince herself that she was being unselfish in giving them up.

While I think that there are many problematic elements to the relationship between Libby and Robert, I don't think that the focus on her sexual pleasure is indicative of one. The show has always focused on the sexual pleasure of the women on it - from Gini to Margaret Scully to Libby (and even to how the prostitutes

"Saint Virginia" or "Virginia who has become so obsessed by her lover and her work that she can't focus on her children"? In my view, we weren't meant to see that scene as Virginia acting as a saint but instead, acting like a very flawed individual whose priorities have changed.

This sounds about as close as popular culture has ever come to demonstrating a real, life modern Catholic person. Because, as a Catholic, that sounds like most of my friends and family.
