I think there’s a serious disconnect. If it’s not aimed directly at white people t hey are not going to give a fuck. They’re going to dismiss everything we do because they do not identify with us as people. I sound harsh but the comments at the beginning of this comments section about Duvernay being terrible cause

I am white and was totally moved by Selma. I cried my eyes out actually and I think Ava DuVernay was robbed of a Best Director nomination.

I’m white and also quite enjoyed it.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I remember having feels throughout it. The Ferguson parallels alone (I remember wondering how intentional they were, because I can’t really grasp how long it takes to make a movie) gave me chills.

I can’t remember which critic/writer it was, but I read a piece where one person was saying that it was a brilliant work of art, but it was unlikely to do well commercially because it wasn’t made for a white audience. It’s a film that more or less assumes that you know who all of the major black members of the

QT knows best!

Oh, she’s good at this.

Selma did a fantastic job of mixing the practical side of activism with the expected highs/lows of the civil rights movement. Getting just half of that right would have made for a good movie. Nailing both made it a great one, and it’s still disappointing how little love Selma got.

In a press conference accompanying the release of the video Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel said, “It is now the time to come together as one city, show respect for one another.”

To be fair, lots of companies are requiring slogans on T’s during the holidays. Like at Bloomingdale’s all the staff has to wear a shirt that says “Roofie my drink when I’m not looking”. It’s tongue in cheek.

“You rarely hear stories about dads treating their sons like crap”

Wondering how many of the comments will be a version of yours: “your mother’s experience is likely unrepresentative. Instead of listening to her story, let me tell you about these other awesome nuns I know.”

Secret and history? You mean widely known and now right?

It can both be true that Caitlyn Jenner is not deserving of the Woman of the Year, and that this guy is an asshole for calling her a man.

Yay Green!

I was SO excited when the green one finally jumped in the pool!

Can we really blame that lady though? I know I would be overdosing on cuteness.

Lol, you’re not kidding!

Death by Goats!
