NASCAR as an organization is actually quite progressive, compared to NFL etc... The fan base, however...

I think that people are enjoying some schadenfreude over the Deltawing situation, and also it’s much cooler to come out of nowhere with a new car and win (like Mercedes did in the 90s) than it is to PR the living hell out of a car in the run-up and then backpedal to “this is really just a test for us and we’ll treat

Can I say that if it was not for Nissan inviting, sponsoring, paying for...etc 8/10th of the world’s motoring press, we would all be laughing at the notion that it’s OK, even admirable, to turn up at the 24 hours of LeMans and claim you are just there to test? Or is that not PC?

Nissan’s arrogance is the problem. Thinking they can ignore 100 years of competition-proven development, that they know better than every top race team for the last 50 years....they deserve the thrashing if only to jolt their heads out of their asses

So, why is this thing so off pace? Is it slow on straights? Slow cornering speeds? Slow acceleration? Poor braking? Is the car just inferior all around that it might possibly be a bad concept OR is it a case of them just not turning it up to 11 yet and its been sitting at a 7-8?

Yet have you seen the front of the car? It’s so densely packed that if something fails and they have to swap it, it’s a three hour job because they have to take out half of the engine. And of course something will break, it’s freaking Le Mans.

What bloody chance? They are 20 seconds slower. It’s like saying that a P2 car can win the race; maybe if everyone else crashes.

Agreed. Making Danica Patrick or any other driver taller wouldn’t make them go faster.

As far as I know, it had nothing to do with puttling aerodynamics, “on the back burner.” Rather the missed the mark, not sure if it was because of a coralation probelm with the windtunnel or what exactly, MB never really said exactly. Wiki says, “The ACO argued that the design of the CLR, with the longest front and

My exact thoughts. I’d have given them a chance if all they were racing were private Pescarolos, but I on no level can believe that the works teams of Audi, Porsche and Toyota would not have recognized the amazing concept that Nissan is running this year. I like that Nissan is back, but please, build a real race car

In short, it’s the Deltawing effect? It might not be fast, but it could win because of its unique approach?

Nissan is going to fail spectacularly. It’s a 40 million $, three car project scattered around the globe against the 120 million $ each VAG works teams. Also, their hybrid system is apparently dysfunctional and only stores 2 MJ of energy and Nissan had a tenth of the test mileage the rest of the LMP1 field had.

we live in a sad day and age when this absolutely massive automobile is considered a “midsize” sedan.

Oh my gosh, I hate that so much.

Autonomous cars will help you get that last parking space faster!

Haul ass through parking lot, take forever and a day to pull into a space.

Is it not apparent that they just modeled the self-driving behavior on actual Lexus SUV drivers?

No matter how many times it happens, I am still flabbergasted that people could be driven on a suicidal murderous rampage because somebody drew a cartoon of their flying spaghetti monster.
