    I agree, they don't. But you will be perceived as such, and that's what realistically matters in the world; not who/what you are, but who/what people think you are.

    That's exactly it. Taking your cousin as an example, no matter how smart he acts around family, what the public will see will be his public image, and base their impressions on such. Your tweets are a form of your public image, and if you don't want people to perceive you as such, you should not give them a reason to.
