Any car’s brakes are more than enough to overcome the power of the engine. And car mags have done a test or two over the years to confirm it. And we’re not talking about riding the brakes for miles at a time, which would cause them to fade and not work. We are talking about a hard, sincere effort to stop the “runaway”…

Torx is a very fastener these days, and maybe they used security Torx (also not exactly a rare screw) to reduce the chance someone will steal it?
